After an interval of one year, Cosmopolis got under way again in 2002.

Municipal Development and Tourism Enterprise took over the responsibility of organizing the festival. With renewed enthusiasm, having enriched with new elements, 2nd Cosmopolis Festival did well and turned out to be a memorable artistic and cultural event.

In 2002, Cosmopolis opened its winds, attracting more countries. Thus, countries were increased from five (2000) to seven: Armenia, Bulgaria, Italy, Cyprus, Portugal, Serbia and Greece (represented by Lesvos).

“Cosmopolis – a view to the cultures all over the world” was Cosmopolis’ battle cry. Its thematic structure was based on the first Cosmopolis Festival, while new elements were added, like the outdoor cinema, where movies of the participating countries were presented (with the help of the Film Institution of S.F.G.T.), and the participation of five non-governmental organizations, as well as the organization of conferences.

2nd Cosmopolis Festival embodied the following schemes:

Music groups
Sandy Lopicic Orkestar (Balkans)
Gevorg Dabaghyan (Arminia)
Spaccanapoli (Italy)

Isis & Krotala (Greece

Dance Groups

Moreover, in the small theater of Mohamed Ali, the following movies were played: “King of Masks”, “La Strada”, and “Two Hours With Sharlot”. Two conferences were organized in Imaret, dealing with the following topics: a) Politics and Globalization, b) Mass Media: Culture and Democracy. The first topic was presented by Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos (now the Minister of Foreign Affairs), while the second one by the well-known journalists Mr. Stelios Kouloglou and Mr. George Stamatopoulos.

Visitors had the chance to taste traditional dishes from many countries: Sis Kebap with Snezanka from Bulgaria, Afelia with Pourgouri and Seftalia from Cyprus, Caldeirada de Bakalaou from Portugal, Souvlakia with Armenian Bread from Armenia and Spaghetti Ragout from Italy.
