From 20-24 August 2003 the old
town of Kavala (Panagia Avenue) became the place where
Cosmopolis Festival brought a multicultural spirit to the city
of Kavala.
Cosmopolis appealed to many people, as more than 40.000 visitors
attended the festival and got in touch with the many cultural
events.
The countries that joined the festival were:
Brazil, France, South Africa,
Poland, Hungary, Ukraine and Greece (represented by West
Macedonia).
Music Groups brightened the
festival:

Various Exhibitions Took Place in the Jails of the Castle:
Reproductions of traditional
musical instruments made by earthy material (mud and wood)
“Tables of the World”, where many artists presented various
artistic techniques, based on the role of the table as an ideal
of exchanging opinions, reinforcing partnership and exchanging
opinions.
“Myth-making”, where the photographer Theodore Papadopoulos
depicted the cultural site of Kavala that has been formed in the
last decade through a photographic mixture, under the remarkable
music selected by himself.
Old Castle became place for the small visitors of Cosmopolis:
Children joined the educational
project “Once Upon a Time” and they were given the chance to get
in touch with cultures from many different countries.
They played various games like “Amarillinia, Korakas, Oupouta,
Kameno, etc.
They enjoyed the Shadow Theater Performance “Mr. Punch and the
82 warrants” by Mr. Nick Karakos.
They took part in the “hidden treasure hunting” by WWF Hellas.
People tested delicious meals from many
countries:
Daube Provence from
France, Boboti, Chicken with Carry from South Africa, Bitki
from Ukraine, Moqueca, Canjica form Brazil, Gulas grom Hungary
and Katafigiotiko from Katafigio Village of Kozani.
