FOLKLORE ENSEMBLE "TIRANA" (Albania)
The Folklore Ensemble "Tirana", founded in Tirana in 1978, is composed from the group of dance, orchestra and the group of singers. They perform folkloric dances, songs and instrumental melodies, mostly from ethnographic regions of Tirana, but have also pieces from the different ethnographic regions of Albania and Kosovo, always in live music. That makes their performances having a variety of folk costumes of various areas, as well as numerous characteristic musical instruments, which are realized by the famous masters of Albanian ethnography. The ensemble is consisted of 35 members. |

HANDS PERCUSSION TEAM (Malaysia) Hands Percussion Team is a renowned Malaysian professional percussion ensemble. The “Hand” is the spirit of the drummer, and it is this “Hand” that will bring life to the drum. The Hands Percussion Team created a veritable bang in the local arts scene in 1997 when Artistic Director – Bernard Goh and Administrative Director – Eric Ch’ng pooled together a group of young and energetic performers to form the troupe. Since then, what grew from a desire to make Chinese drumming more artistic and creative has morphed into an amazing group that studies different percussion cultures to produce multi-ethnic sounds and beats in its performances. In this few years, Hands Percussion Team has been invited to participate in international arts festivals, such us Singapore Arts Festival, China-Shanghai International Arts Festival, International Festivals of Warrfum and Putten (Nederland), World Festival of Folklore Schoten (Belgium) and many others. |

EVEREST NEPAL CULTURAL GROUP (Nepal) Everest Nepal Cultural Group is registered under the Government of Nepal, is working for the cultural heritage, conservation and development, overall culture of Nepal. The group has been running its verities of cultural activities within the country as well as all over the world for decades. It has got experiences in the cultural exchanges with various international communities. It therefore, has a genuine scope and ability to promote the national and international exchange program for the benefit of the people of Nepal and the world. Everest Nepal Cultural Group already organized three international folk festivals in Kathmandu, Lalipur, Bhaktapur, Trisuli and the most beautiful Himalayas valley, that is Pokhara of Nepal. From May 30th to June 08th 2008, the group is hosting the 4th International Folk Festival (www.folkfestivals.org) in the most important city of Nepal. |

BALTS ENSEMBLE (Russia / N. Ossetia) The Dance Ensemble BALTS is representing the Autonomous Republic of the Russian Federation. It was founded in 2000 and is under the auspices of the the Modern University for the Humanities (Moscow) branch in Vladikovkaz. Its repertoire mainly includes dances from Ossetia and other peoples from Caucasus. The dances are divided in dances that have a plot, presentation dances and those which revive customs. The highlights of BALT’s programme are dances with swords and knives. |

ABRASEVIC (Serbia) The "Abrasevic" artistic company from Belgrade was established on November 12, 1905. It is one of the oldest amateur artistic companies in Serbia and Montenegro and former Yugoslavia. Nowadays, "Abrasevic" has more than 1200 members, grouped in ten sections, such as: folk dance ensemble including tree ensembles, children folk dance section, mixed choir, folk music orchestra, amateur theatre company, modern ballet section, folk dance school and the section of veterans. Folk dance ensemble is the most important section in company as it has received many times the most distinguished national recognition in Yugoslavia and won a great number of awards in the most prominent festivals of the world. "Abracevic" has been one of the most successful representatives of the Yugoslav culture abroad for decades. |

VOCES Y ESPARTO (Spain) The folk dance ensemble “VOCES Y ESPARTO” from Cuenca has embodied in its repertoire the music and dances from the three geographic areas of La Mancha, Serannia and Altaria, as well as from a lot of villages in Spain. As it is natural, this repertoire is the product of a research, during which dances and rhythms that were almost forgotten, were gathered and revived, like Ronda, work songs, wedding songs, love songs and lots of other dances and songs with which the people of Cuenca celebrated all special moments in life. The members of the ensemble kept their ancestor’s enthusiasm and are trying not to stick to the strict choreographies – they try to create on stage a special atmosphere during their presentations which are inspired from those times. |

SYLLOGOS PHILIPPON PHYSIOLATRON OF SIATISTA [=Society of horse and nature lovers of Siatista] (Greece) The society was founded in 1972 with the aim of preserving manners and customs of Siatista in West-Macedonia. In the context of cultural inheritance preservation the members of “Syllogos Philippon Physiolatron of Siatista” have been recording and teaching authentic traditional songs and dances as well as enriching the society’s costume collection with local traditional costumes. They have participated in numerous cultural events in Greece and abroad and have gained prizes and awards. They have appeared in several TV shows with a rich local program. Furthermore, every year the society’s horse-riding section takes part in the custom “Kavalarides tis Panagias” (=Virgin Mary’s Horse-Riders).
